The runway will be extended to 1,600 meters, lights and satellite-based LPV instrument approaches will be added. Part of the field’s operations is the future aviation product development and test center.

The field area is zoned for the future “Helsinki-East” logistics and industrial area. The plan also includes a provision for a crossed runway. Various activities based on the airport will be created in the area.
