1. General information:
Punkaharju is an authentic backcountry strip in the most scenic part of the Saimaa waters, located on a peninsula the airfield offers a unique landing experience. Nearby are numerous natural sights – ridges, lakes and cliffs.

A private airfield maintained by the local airport society at Punkaharju some 30 km from Savonlinna and 20 km from Parikkala. At both ends of the runway an 80 m long asphalt acceleration strip is available. Turnaround is best done at the widening of these strips. The tree cluster on the east side crosses the sector. Over the road running at the south end of the runway (34) an altitude of 5 m must be maintained because of vehicle traffic.
The airport is operated year-round, winter maintenance for the runway is performed as required. The airport is PPR during the winter season, all operations require prior permission from the airport chief.
