2. General information:
A relatively aktive airfield, situated in the Menkijärvi village of Alajärvi. The Alajärven Ilmailukerho flying club, the Järviseudun Lentokerho flying club, and the Vaasan Lentokerho flying club use this field, and in the summer the Flying club of the Finnish Air Force training school and Etelä-Pohjanmaan flying club also use this field.
The Vaasan Lentokerho flying club has accommodation facilities comprising rooms for 1-4 people, furnished with beds and a table. Additionally there is a kitchen with a micro-oven, an oven, and a refrigerator. The facilities are intended for club members, but guest accommodation can also be provided. The treasurer of the club will provide information concerning accommodation.

4. The Airport:
Main runway 04/22 in good condition. The surface ot the taxiway is slightly broken in some places, also some loose sand and stones. The old runway 21/03 is used mainly for towplane landings, and as a reserve landing strip for gliders. The surface of the runway is broken (oil gravel), and with occasional pits.
THE RUNWAY IS NOT APPROVED!
There are no significant edge obstacles to the main runway. To 03 there are tall birches and possibly vehicle traffic across the threshold.

6. Sight seeing and services
In the summer daily café services at lake shore where there are also accommodation possibilities including a very nice sauna.
Other recommended shops and restaurants: Kanavan Kievari (10km), Kurejoki at the end of road 711, Alajärvi (16km), Kuortane (16km), or Lapua centre (34km). Public swimming beach in the direction of runway 22 when viewed from the café. Public sauna-baths on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (dressing stalls + WC).
