An airfield lying in the middle of vast forests in North-Carelia. Karjalan Liitäjät use the field for hang-gliding, otherwise very little activity. The nearest village Viekijärvi is some 3 kilometres from the field, Nurmes some 22 kilometres flying distance. Close to the field Viekijärvi hunters have built a wooden shelter, free for everybody use. At the shelter there is also firewood and a toilet. The hunters also have a roomy cabin a couple of kilometres further, with sauna- and overnight possibilities. Food may also be possible to order. An interesting incident can be mentioned here: a British 7+2 seats Super King Air B200 visited the field in the summer of 2004.
