ATTENTION GENERAL AVIATORS!<br \/>Instructions for movement\u00a0 from the platform to the airport parking lot are located on the airport notice board (at the base of the new air traffic control tower, on the platform side). Here you can read the current instructions regarding movement!<\/p>\n<p>The Varkaus Aviation Association is active at the airport, and it engages in gliding, motor gliding, motorized flying and ultralight flying at the airport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Airfield history:<\/strong><br \/>The Industries in Varkaus requested that an airport should be built. Since the city of Varkaus did not have space for an airport, it was placed at the old military airport in Jorois. In the 1980s, the airport was very busy and the DC-9 planes were often full.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial flight activity on the field faded around 2014, and the last scheduled flight was flown in 2016.<br \/>In 2019, the field lost its airport status.<br \/>18.9.2022 Varkaus airport was ceremonially reopened.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d01e29a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3d01e29a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">3.
